Plantagenet was the first winery in the Great Southern Region of Western Australia. The vineyard in the sub-region of Mt Barker was established in 1974, with many awards being won in the ensuring years.

Embracing the conditions of the Great Southern’s cool climate, Plantagenet makes distinctive wines of finesse and elegance. Initially Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon were grown on the estate, but after great success went on to plant further varieties, including Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillion, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The vineyards all benefit from their coastal proximity, enjoying abundant rainfall and cool twilight breezes from the neighbouring Southern Ocean.

This wine exhibits a wonderful citrus spectrum that ranges from ripe lemons to grapefruit flavours and fine lime. The perceived fruit sweetness to acidity is delicately balanced and supported by a subtle minerality; finished with a crisp, clean finish and a touch of grassiness.
